About 1,000 physical therapists, physical therapy assistants and students are mobilizing for Capitol Hill visits Thursday, with an agenda that includes permanently repealing Medicare's annual cap on PT services. The day begins with an 8 a.m. rally in Upper Senate Park, adjacent to the Russell Senate Office Building. The American Physical Therapy Association's annual advocacy event will feature a health and wellness clinic for lawmakers and staff; assessments will include grip strength and a golf swing analysis.
The National Association of Manufacturers kicks off the 2015 Manufacturing Summit Tuesday with a keynote talk from U.S. Commerce Secretary Penny Pritzker. Other associations in the sector will also hold fly-ins this week, and participate in some or all of the summit events, including the Adhesive and Sealant Council, the Association of Independent Corrugated Converters and the Fibre Box Association, and Associated Equipment Distributors.
The Recreational Vehicle Industry Association will cap its advocacy day Wednesday with a reception honoring the Senate RV Caucus. A hearing room in the Hart Senate Office Building will be transformed into a "campground setting."
Other groups holding fly-ins or legislative conferences this week include the American Medical Group Association, Toy Industry Association, Snack Food Association, and the American Short Line and Regional Railroad Association. NPES—The Association for Suppliers of Printing, Publishing and Converting Technologies and Printing Industries of America will join forces for Print's Voice 15.
